Hey, crazy two alert. It is 02-02-2002 today. Anyway, I am sick. Just getting caught up on some emails and then I am out of here. First for the pharmacy (it was not yet open when I went by) and then home to bed. Got email approving my requested days off in May. Called and talked with Mom to confirm. Then, went online and got us two (2) tickets to see The Producers. She was so amazed at my online skills. Actually, I found the main site for The Producers and told them what dates we were looking for and let the computer do the work of finding the seats. How did we ever live without computers. <grin> Anyway, so that is set. I have gotten caught up on my urgent email. Oh, and got an email from my current professor. For my week 4 assignment, I got another individual A. The assignment was to produce a project plan for a two day training workshop. Here is what he said, "This may be the most complete task list I have ever seen for this assignment...Grade is an A." Now I just have to work with the team to get our team project done. It's due on Tuesday. Later.

I have been a bit under the weather. Caught something from someone. Work is work. Home is home. Not much to report. Mom is still checking to see if she can come out the 16th of May. I am working on the final school team project.

Decided to sleep in a bit. Have been out of sorts today. My neck has been bothering me. Wash is in and dinner is on the stove. Have to finish up my school assignment that is due tonight. Only have a little bit more to do on it. Trying to sort out when Mom can come to visit. Priti (who works with me) will be in India attending a wedding until May 11th so that did not work out. Looking to see if Mom can visit after the 15th. We will see.

Attended A Mini Mozart/Salieri Festival "A Rondo of Rivalries" Opera put on by The Singing Actor's Atelier. It was held in the Auditorium of this grammar school called Jesse Isadore Strauss School of Science on West 70th Street, NYC. Two of my friends, Robert and Jeffrey went with me. We had lunch in the area. Another friend of ours, Dean was singing. I can now say that I have been to an Opera in Manhattan. Not sure if I would want to go again. But it was an experience that I rather enjoyed. Later, I went to our Holiday party for the Imperial Court held down in the lower east village around 2nd Avenue and 5th Street.

I just finished watching Pay It Forward. Love that movie. After I left the lab, I did go over to the furniture store and bought the recliner. While I was there, I also found a replacement frame for the futon that I have, for less than $100 and bought it as well. When the recliner comes in (they have to order it) then they will deliver it and the futon frame. They will also remove the old futon frame which did not fully survive the journey from Oregon. It's ok. But it's broken on one side. You can sit only on the left side. I've decided to keep the futon but replace the frame. So, I am going to rearrange when they both come in. The way I have the living room set up, the recliner will not work with the futon. So, the futon is going against one wall and the recliner will be here near my computer table which both look at the TV. Hey, it will be functional. The recliner is a nice medium brown. I'm working on my home system and need to organize some papers and my other table. Got things scatter and piled on it. Need to sort things and toss some of it away.

Had a great time yesterday in The City. Went around with a friend Eric to put out postcards announcing the upcoming Night of a Thousand Gowns in March. I drove and Eric went door to door to the places on the list. Later, two other friends and I went to dinner at this little (I mean little) Indian (as in India Indian, not Native) over on 2nd Avenue. I think the area is called the East Village. We had a good time and the food was great. Got back around 11pm. Did a little home work and then went to bed.
Today, I got up, read the paper and then decided to go back to bed. Got to the lab around 11am. Just finishing up and heading down to the furniture store to see if the recliner I was looking at is still on sale. Sale was to end today.

Not much really to type. Busy, busy. Talked with Dad the other day and talked with Mom recently. Tiffany is upset that I spent lots of time on the computer once I get home. Have been home late because of work. Have a special "fix it" project that I have been working on trying to sort out what is going on. Will be moving the first big phase into production tomorrow afternoon. After I got home, I logged on to work and spent another hour working on those emails. Then, I had over 60 emails once I got home from school. And, I had them all cleaned up the night before. Then, I had a team meeting last night and tonight. Better go get started on my emails from today.

Had a nice day just relaxing and working on things. Went out in the snow for a bit early. Got my hair cut then talked on the phone with Jeffrey for a bit. Got home and watched some movies and talked with Simon from downstairs. They are leaving next week and I am going to be watching over their two cars while they are in Florida. Then did some school work. Talked with Dad today and this afternoon talked with Mom. Grandma was over at Mom's doing some cooking. Talked with her too. We got about 1 1/2" to 2" of snow here. Today the temp. warmed up to almost 40 so it's really melting. Finished my individual homework assignment and now have some more reading to do. Talking with Mom about when she might be able to come out for a week. Thinking about this May. Maybe we can celebrate our birthdays here in NYC. Will have to check the calendar.

It has stopped snowing here. Just a light dusting about 1/2 inch.
Saturday, January 19, 2002 1:30pm EST
It started about an hour ago. Small flakes just here and there. Now it is coming down but still a very dry, light snow. It's coming up from the South and the radio said it's really heavy from the Delaware up to Atlantic City and headed this way. It is supposed to gain strength and moisture. A really wet snow. In the City they are now talking between 4 and 6 inches. I'll keep you updated as the day goes on. I'm home and have lots to do around here, so I will not be bored.

It sure feels like it is going to snow outside. It was such a clear and pretty day yesterday. Now it is cloudy and they say it should start snowing in about another 2 hours. We hear 2-4 or 3-6 inches by the time it finishes sometime later tonight. First real snow we have had this year here. I was in the City last night at a charity event in Mid-town. It was a nice small show but was fun to get out and have a few drinks (well Sprite, I do not drink alcohol). Have the flyers for Night of a Thousand Gowns to get out this coming week. Talked with a couple of people who are going to help me put the cards out. Well, I have work to get done.

Good morning. Was in the City last night at St. Vincent Hospital for a meeting. Committee Chairperson meeting concerning the Night of a Thousand Gowns in mid March. Saturday, March 16th at the Broadway Ballroom, Marriott Marquis Hotel, NYC. I'm on the mailing and distribution committee. Have a show tonight at The Web. It's in mid-town. So, that should be fun. Anyway. Have lots of work to do. Got pulled off everything and asked to help sort something major out. Have been working on that real heavy over the past few days. Getting real close. I can feel it.

I am totally exhausted but had a good time last night at our Casino Royale and Silent Auction. It was held at the LGBT Community Services Center's third floor Auditorium in lower Manhattan on 13th street. Worked the Wheel of Fortune and generally had a good time. Had been at the Center all day helping setup the place for the event. Funds from the event are going to Green Chimneys Children's Services.

Have been very busy. We have a charity event going on Sunday and have been over in the City getting ready for that. School work and Work work have all been really keeping me busy. Right now I have finished my shower. Had a bit to eat and was just now checking email from school. Have to get to work and take care of some stuff and then need to be in the City around 2pm today.
Monday, January 7, 2002, 6:00am EST
Just missed the snow here. They were talking about 1-3 inches but the storm just missed up to the North and West. It's to warm right now. It's 36 here but it is supposed to get down to 24 tonight. They say some small flurries should develop tonight but nothing major. The Queen's bus drivers went on strike this morning. Something interesting to give the new Mayor something to do besides call for cuts. Watching the local news right now. Anyway, got to get my shower and then head to work. Lots to do today.

Dad just called. Talking with him about the weather. It's snowing here and he is rubbing it in that it was 75 degrees where they are in California. I just got back from Starbucks where I was reading my school work for this week. Rather interesting reading. Now I need to write up an answer to this weeks discussion question. Any of the items listed below may play a role in causing a project to fail. Discuss the two that you feel are the most important. Include their potential role in causing a project to fail and your thoughts on the best way to address that possibility. a. Lack of a plan b. Upper management c. Restricted budget d. Restricted time e. Power struggles f. Personality conflicts or g. Resistance to change. Dad gave me a few ideas. I talked with my boss on Friday and got another view point.

Busy, busy. Have been keeping long hours but have been getting things taken care of. I am trying to get my other computer system back up and running. It has a memory problem which I need to find a specific type of memory board. The newer ones are backwards compatible but not for this system. I'm trying to get my DSL service up and running on it.
Thursday, January 3rd
Started my second online class today. Project management is this one.

Had a great evening last night. Got home around 3:30am. Traffic was really light. Went in through the Holland Tunnel. Called and wished my parents a Happy New Year before crossing over into New York. New York now has a ban on cell phone use while driving. Got a little mixed up and parked about 2 blocks away from the place. Could have parked a little closer. It was cold out but I only had a short distance to go. Wore my black tux. Most everyone at the party was very well dressed. Met lots of people had had a great time.
Monday, December 31, 2001, 1:30pm EST
Only 10 1/2 hours to go now. Have finished up at work and getting ready to head toward the cleaners to pickup my tux pants for tonight black tie affair in lower Manhattan. Yesterday I finished my A look back at 2001 letter that is going to several friends. It's rather deep but is what I was thinking about. I sat over at my favorite Starbucks and wrote it yesterday for about 2 hours. Happy New Year everyone.
