LOG UPDATE FOR May 2002

Friday, May 31, 2002 11:50pm

I'm back on Fire Island for the weekend.  Had a nice storm pass through the area.  It was loads of fun on the ferry as the lightning strikes were all around us.  After it stopped raining, I walked over to the ocean and just watched the lightning strike out to sea.  It was very pretty and powerful.  Also reminded me of those old news footage showing artillery shells off in the distance.  I have a show that I am working on tomorrow with a Tech call at 10am.  Should be a relaxing weekend.

Have been rather busy since coming back from Memorial Day.  My computer's battery decided to kick the bucket so I was unable to do any work or update this site over the long weekend.  Got back on Tuesday and have not had a minute to sit down since then.  Mom has been sick since she got back from here.  But she had a great time.  Looking forward to the weekend.  Supposed to be a nice one.

Had a dentist appointment.  My gum is healing nicely but he wants to wait another week before we take the impression for my crown.  Work busy.

Nothing special.  Trying to get back into the swing of things with being off work for so long.  With the long Memorial Day weekend and mom being in town, I was not in my regular work schedule for almost 2 weeks.  So it was interesting getting back into the routine.

Took the 10am boat back from Fire Island and then played parking lot on the cross Bronx.  Oh well, it was construction related.  I'm not good enough to figure out a way around that one.  The other option was to come into Manhattan instead of cutting across the cross Bronx which takes me right into the George Washington Bridge and home.  Oh well.  Six to one and half a dozen to another.

Had a great time at the Homecoming festivities.  The Arts Project of Cherry Grove hosts their annual start of the season event.  I am now volunteering for tech assistance.  So I ran a follow spot for the event.  It was loads of fun and I had one of the best seats in the house.  Up high looking right down on everyone.

Have had a great time with Mom being here from Oregon.  Last night we relaxed here in Jersey.  Also put together a new table that she bought for my kitchen.  It now holds the new microwave that I now have.  We are up and getting ready to head to the airport.  Then I will come back and rest and pack before heading to Fire Island for Memorial Day weekend.

Having a great time with Mom visiting.  But she is really running me ragged.  Here is a recap.

Wednesday, May 22, 2002

Went into Manhattan and saw the afternoon performance of The Producers.  Loved it.  Shopped a bit and then saw Into the Woods in the evening.  Revisited Ground Zero and took some pictures.

Spent the whole day relaxing, running errands in New Jersey.  We got up late because of the full day we had on Monday in Baltimore.  Ate at the Cheesecake Factory.  That was yum.

Monday, May 20, 2002

Got up early and drove to Baltimore to visit mom's husbands sister.  They toured us around and we stopped at Fort McHenry at the mouth of the Baltimore bay area.  This is where F. S. Keys wrote the Star Spangled Banner.  The whole place has been turned into a National Park.  It had lots of school kids around.  We counted 12 buses when we came out.  But it was great walking around the place.  They had a huge 15 star and 15 stripe flag still flying.  Remember back in the War of 1812, the United States used to add a star and a stripe for every new state.  Later, they went back to only 13 stripes for the original 13 colonies and added only a star to the flag for each new state.  Can you imagine what a 50 strip flag would look like?    On display here is also the very first 49 star flag ever flown and the first 50 star flag flown.  They were both flown from the staff at Fort McHenry.  Mom was not feeling well so we drove back that afternoon.

Sunday, May 19, 2002

Slept late.  Then went into Manhattan.  We saw Space Station in 3D at an IMAX near Lincoln Center.  Also ate at a well known NYC place called Ollie's.  It's a Chinese place near Lincoln Center.

Saturday, May 18, 2002

Meet Jeffrey, sat and talked for several hours while I dried out.  It was raining and I need to meet the freight boat.  Got soaked to the skin.   The ride back over the bay was fun.  The ferry was tossing and turning.  But the rain had stopped.  We drove back to Hackensack.

Friday, May 17, 2002

Drove out Long Island to Sayville and took the ferry ride out to Cherry Grove, Fire Island.  Mom and I spent the night.  We toured the little community out there and played some cards.

Thursday, May 16, 2002 8:20am

Got a ticket last night for something I did not know was illegal in New Jersey.  From a two way street turning left after stopping on a red light.  It's legal in Oregon.  But sure is not in New Jersey.  $78 worth of not being allowed.  The cop was real nice about it.  Mom is flying in tonight.  We will spend a week together before I put her back on the plane for home.

Tough Drag at the Web was fun.  Everyone had a great time and we raised around $1,000.

Monday, May 13, 2002 7:15pm

Sorry I have been so busy.  Trying to get stuff taken care of before Mom comes for a visit.  Had my teeth worked on again today.  Boy that was not fun.  Have another visit on Wednesday.  Putting the final plans into place for me being gone next week.  Got some much needed shopping done after the dentist at Target.  The new Hackensack Target is on the way back from the dentist, so picked up some shorts and some much needed sandals.

Saturday, May 11, 2002

Took a trip out to Fire Island with Jeffrey and Ashley.  The weather was great, got a sun burn as we were walking around.  Took an inventory of what was at the place and took a load out.  We visited Home Depot after we got back from the island and transported some stuff to the shipping company who will deliver it next weekend.  The place is small but I'm not planning on taking up much space.  Have already been volunteered to help decorate for the home coming celebration over Memorial Day weekend.  So, it sounds like I will not be short of time getting to know people and volunteering to help out with the various stage shows that happen each weekend.

Tuesday, May 7, 2002 9:15am

Very busy today already.  Talked with Mom, Bill and Libby who sung Happy Birthday to me this morning.  Several people have stopped and wished me a happy day.  I'm dressed in light brown today which is a change for me.  Several people have commented on it.  Going to dinner with the gals on Thursday.  Nothing special planned today.

Monday, May 6, 2002

Lots of work.  Talked with my boss about my up coming vacation.  Got a card from Grandma and Mom.

Sunday, May 5, 2002

Slept in.  Played a computer game most of the day.  And rearranged some boxes.  Took out a large bag of old clothes to a donation drop box.  Chatted with Jason over at Boston Market.  He used to work at Quest.  Made arrangements with Jeffrey about going to Fire Island this coming weekend.

Saturday, May 4, 2002

Worked for a short time then went to Costco to pickup a few things.  Then caught the 11am showing of Spider-Man before the crowds packed the place.  The movie was great.  Place was about 1/3 full at that early hour.  Drove past later in the day and the entire parking lot was full.

Friday, May 3, 2002 6:00pm EDT

Got notice that Yahoo/GeoCities is going to have their system down this weekend.  So no web site updates this weekend.  From the news release I got.  Sounds like they are moving their entire server farm to another location.  Wow!!  That is a big task.  They expect to be back up and running sometime on Sunday.  Maybe I will just type and update and then load it on Monday.  Hey, have a great weekend everyone.  Oh, I talked with my Mom today.  Wished her a Happy Birthday and all.  She was headed out for a fun weekend in the country.  Hope she had a great time.  She will be here visiting me here in New York in just 2 weeks.  Busy, busy at work.  Trying to tie up all of the loose ends before I leave on vacation.

Wednesday, May 1, 2002 7:15am EDT

Have a dentist appointment at 5pm.  Work looks good.  Had visions of trouble due to integration but it actually started off rather smoothly.  Only a few blips.  Trying to get caught up on emails.  Down about 25 right now.  HAPPY MAY DAY !!!
