Update for October 2004
Sunday, October 31, 2004 5:40pm EST
Just over at Starbucks going through school stuff. Lots of posts in this class to read. I have a paper due on Tuesday so I have started reading for it and thinking about the outline in my head. Susan, a friend of mine who is an English high school teacher, and I were talking earlier about my writing technique. I normally do the outline in my head and then write the paper. After that I let it sit for a spell. Normally watch TV or something and then reread the paper when my mind is fresh and edit it. Normally this gives me top marks on my paper. Anna, another friend from Starbucks, is eating right now next to me. She giggles funny too when she is around. Baked Potato soup and bread. Ick. She is a nice 19 year old that works here and is going to school at Fordham University in the city. She is fun to be around and talk with. Any who. Back to school stuff. Got lots to do. Besides I have to pester Anna a bit before her lunch break is over.

Just reset all of my clocks since Tiffany got me up to feed her. Hard to explain to her that we fell back one hour and it's is really only 5am and not 6am. Oh well, she got her food. Played cards last night at Starbucks and prior to that, attended the Ragmuffin parade in Hasbrouck Heights for the little kids. Helped Lenny our council candidate hand out trick or treat bags to the kids. Then did some school work and watch a movie at home on DVD.

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to this. Have been very busy since getting back on Monday. Lots of school work and lots of things going on. I did wash yesterday while I did homework at home. Now I am over at Starbucks trying to get on top of things in class. Work has been very busy too. Lots of things to go through since I was out several days. My friend Steve got offered a job offer from Quest Diagnostics. He starts in 2 weeks in the Marketing area for the Endocrinology area.
Monday, October 25, 2004 3:30pm EDT - 125 miles out of Newark
Have started our decent so it is time to shut down and get ready to land. Really have to go but will just need to hold it until I get on the ground. I lucked out and have an open seat next to me. Looking out the window I can see that it is overcast today. Lots of clouds everywhere you look. Fun to be above the clouds right now. They are getting closer and closer as we descend. The flight deck just announced that we should be on the ground in about 20 minutes. Man those clouds are getting close now. And there is the announcement to shut down and pack up. Got to go.
Monday, October 25, 2004 2:30pm EDT - 35,000' over the Great Lakes
Just looked out the window and we are high over the Great Lakes. That water just goes on and on and on. So far the flight has been uneventful. GOOD. No turbulence to speak of. Just a very nice, quiet flight. Watched the movie Dodgeball and slept. Going to do some school work that will be uploaded when I get home. Really looking forward to my trip back in 5 weeks when I also get to spend time with family. Oh well, guess the school work is not going to do itself.
Monday, October 25, 2004 6:40am PDT - Portland International Airport
Made it here with plenty of time to spare. My flight does not even start boarding for another half-hour. Last night was fun. Actually, the whole weekend was fun. The ball was really nice. Had a fun time talking with everyone and just running around. Went over to my friend Jacob's house and took him and his 7 year old Micah out to Chucky Cheese. After a few moments of him being overwhelmed with the number of kids there, he warmed up to it and seemed to have had a great time. Toured Jacob's new house, a very nice one in the Parkrose area of NE. Then headed up to the Vancouver Mall and meet up with Edward and his new boyfriend Micah. We went over to TGIF and we talked while they ate. They knew that I had just come from another lunch meeting so understood. After that we went over to a grocery store so that they could by some desert for later since I had to be getting back to town. Edward left his cell phone in the car so I had to turn around and drop it back by his place. Good thing I was not to far away when I noticed it. Headed back to the hotel and got myself prepared. Then headed downtown to meet up with even more people. Really did not want to leave around 12:30am but just had to get back. Packed and got a few hours sleep before getting up at 4:30am this morning to shower and pack everything. Had to boxes of costume and extra clothes that I boxed and shipped back UPS ground. That way I did not have to bring two suitcases and lug them around. Especially through Newark and to the car. Just relaxing before the flight. Need to do some school work.
Saturday, October 23, 2004 3:45pm PDT - Portland, Oregon
Had a great time last night. The show went very well as The Escape (new name for the youth club). I think I did a good job co-hosting the show. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the talent was really good. Just taking a break before I get ready for the coronation tonight. Have to shower and dress. Doors open at 5pm so lots to do. Whoever might be reading this (hi mom) will get this on Sunday. I will not be able to upload it until then. Sat over at Starbucks this morning and did bunches of homework until I ran out of batteries. Then I packed up and headed down to the Hospitality Suite where I picked up the tickets. Lots of people stopped by that I had not seen in a while. It was nice talking with them. Ok, off to the shower. The coronation starts at 6pm.
Friday, October 22, 2004 8:40am PDT - Portland, Oregon
Had a great time last night. I have been up for over an hour working on school discussion questions and responses. Still rather behind in that class because of all of the reading and email postings. Wow, what a prolific group of people. Walking up to Starbucks to post all of the stuff I wrote and then back to my room. Have a lunch date with an old friend and then more things to do around town before tonight. I am co-hosting an all ages show tonight at the Kiddie Club. Should be interesting.
Thursday, October 21, 2004 8:40pm PDT - Portland, Oregon
Had breakfast today in my room while I did homework. Then walked up to Starbucks (about 2 blocks away) and downloaded my work. Forgot to update the web site, sorry. Then went shopping over at Lloyd Center. Planned on buying socks and shorts so only brought a pair for today. Lucked out even better than I thought. They were on sale too. Bought some t-shirts as well. Then went out to the lab in Tigard. Got there and got paged from Teterboro. Had some minor issues to check out so I did while I was saying hi to everyone. Judy and I went out to lunch at 12:30pm and then stuck around and talked with some more people. Then got my haircut and met up with Mark. We had dinner and talked, then dropped him off and I am now back here at the hotel doing some school work before heading up to Starbucks to download it before I head out tonight.
Wednesday, October 20, 2004 5:10pm EDT - Newark / Liberty International Airport
Just grand. Our plane has finally landed and is making it's way to the gate. They need to clean it and then we will be boarding. Oh well, would rather delay here rather than sitting on the plane waiting to take off. Yesterday there were delays in the area due to the weather. This same flight was over 2 hours late taking off yesterday. While it is gray out, the weather is ok here. Does not appear to be much delays, so it might have just been slow getting out.
Wednesday, October 20, 2004 4:30pm EDT - Newark / Liberty International Airport
Got here and I drove right up to curb side check in and delivered my bag. Then headed over to economy parking and took the shuttle back to the terminal. Through security and snap, I had 2 hours to kill. So I ate. Did some reading while I was eating and then found my gate. They have had a gate change since I got here. Down at gate 75 now instead of 82. So I plugged in and finished my paper that is due today. Can not upload it from here anywhere. Sill have to wait until I get to Portland to do that. Will do some more reading while I am on the plane after I settle in. I have several chapters of reading to do. Misplaced my reading glasses over a month ago now. Thought they would turn up but guess they are really missing. So my eyes get tired when I am reading. If I can not find them soon, I will need to head back to my eye doctor and have my eyes retested and maybe get new glasses. Then again, those were a few years old. So maybe it was time to get new ones. Oh well, think I will work on some more school before they announce the flight.
Tuesday, October 19, 2004 10:15pm EDT
Well I think I am about all packed. I have to go through my bag and make sure. I left it kind of light so that I could buy some new clothes in Portland. Might want to take out a t-shirt or two. But I am pretty set. I have a paper due on Wednesday and a weekly summary. The paper is just about done. Maybe 80% so I am going to stay up and work on it tonight since it will be rushed tomorrow. I have both of my batteries charged, so I could work on it on the plane and then download when I get to Portland. Still have a little school work (discussion question replies). I will be in Portland, Oregon until Monday.

Got back from a board of directors meeting over in New York. Also just got my grade back for my last class. A- and I start a new class on Thursday. Off to bed.

Got up this morning and went to the gym. Now that I am back into a Winter schedule, I am going to try and get to the gym at least 3 times a week. I have gained about 25 lbs over the summer not exercising and not eating very right. So I need to get back into my habits of low carb foods and exercising. Right now I have some Orange Cranberry bread in the oven. Trying to have some snack food around the house that I can eat instead of heading out to Baskin & Robbins for ice cream. The bread is Atkins approved low carb bread. Also went to the store yesterday and again today to stock the apartment with good stuff. Forgot to get some cheese snacks. Maybe this afternoon. But got eggs for the bread. Had 3 eggs still in the fridge with an expiration date of April on them. Oops. Also cleared one of my tables in the apartment from junk. Sifted through it and took out two bags full of trash. Also did 7 loads of laundry yesterday. Lots of it was beach stuff. Clothes, towels and sheets from the beach house that are now going to be folded and put away until the spring.
Thursday, October 7, 2004 5:30pm EDT
First time in many months that I am here on Thursday night and not headed to the island first thing Friday. I actually have to work on Friday. Wow, 5 days a week. What a concept. Anyway, I am just kicking back. Have lots planned this weekend. Going to do some shopping since I do not have much in the house. Tiffany also wants me to pick up some things. School finished yesterday so I have a week off with no school. Going to clean the apartment some too. Try and reclaim my living room from the heaps of junk that have gathered over the summer. I might want to buy some more garbage bags now because I think I will need them. The other thing is just to sift through some items and actually put them away where they belong instead of just letting them gather.
Sunday, October 3, 2004 11:00pm EDT
Closed up the Fire Island house this weekend. It was rather sad. Had a nice drill with the department before I left. Then had brunch with some friends and we left. Did some shopping and then dropped Jeffrey in the city. Sigh. Until the spring. Got a paper due Monday for class. It is a team paper and then I have a mega individual paper due Tuesday for class. Wednesday is my last day of class. Then I am off for one week before I start the next class.
