Just doing some maintenance things right now.  Have lots to do.  Did laundry yesterday.  Got my application in for Emperor of the Imperial Court of New York yesterday.  So will keep you up to date on how that goes.  The interviews are in late July with the introduction of candidates on Wednesday, August 3rd.

This is from the parade in Cherry Grove on Saturday.  Then on the first boat Sunday morning, Jeffrey, Tom, his hot room mate Sean and I all drove to Manhattan.  Tom & I were marshals for the court float. So we checked in and then drove the car down to the village where the parade was going to finish up.  Jeffrey took a cab up to his place to get dressed.  We then all meet back at the float and headed down 5th avenue with thousands of others.  Robin looked so good on the float.  Our Emperor Tony was stunning as well.

Had a nice quiet day on the island.  Jeffrey got here later this morning and has a slight cold.  Did some fire department stuff today and then have been reading.  Only 21 days until Harry Potter 6 at this point so I am reading the 4th book again.  Almost done and then will read the 5th book just before the 6th comes out.  Love my new broadband connection here on the island.  So much easier than the old dial-up that I had to use.  Since the place is so small, the computer is normally put away.  It does not stay out like it does at home.  So it is a bit of work to set it up.  I think my next class for school starts late in July.  With the high speed connection, it will be easier to keep up in school over the summer.  This will be my first class with the new connection out on the island.  So I'll see how it goes with my time back and forth.  Have a parade tomorrow at 4pm and then fire works at 10:15pm tomorrow for Gay Pride.  Then we will head into the city on the first boat Sunday for the Pride Parade down 5th avenue.  One of the worlds largest gay parades.  If you stand in one spot and watch the parade go by, it takes about 4 to 4 1/2 hours for it to pass by.  We are in section 5 this year of 16 sections.

Happy Summer everyone.  Now it is all down hill from here.  Have been rather busy.  Had two meetings last night.  Actually three but I had to beg out of one.  First had a marshal meeting for the Pride Parade at 6pm.  Had to register and pick up our float vehicle permit.  Then dashed back to New Jersey and had a Jeffersonian Democratic club meeting.  Now it is off to work.  Hope everyone had a nice solstice yesterday.

Happy Flag Day everyone.  Boy I am in a much better mode tonight.  My air conditioner was finally fixed today and I have a new GE in my front room.  Several days of dripping sweat was about to do me in.  Good thing I was on the island over the weekend.  Last night was a killer.  Work was full of fun today.  Had an all day meeting with people from our Ohio unit.  We are working with them on how we can all work together better for our mutual clients.  Tonight my little nephew (not really, just what I have called him for years) Edward will be arriving.  He flies out of Portland tonight on a red eye and will get here tomorrow morning.  He will stay with me for a few days before we go out to Fire Island where he will be working at the hotel this summer in the office and as a relief lifeguard.  It will be fun to get caught up with him when he is not working.  Found some more Snapple caps.

Snapple Fact #444 - The Statue of Liberty wears a size 879 sandal.

Snapple Fact #348 - It is estimated that the world's oceans contain 10 billion tons of gold.

Snapple Fact #439 - Snails can sleep for up to three years.

Snapple Fact #154 - Americans spend more than $630 million a year on golf balls.

Snapple Fact #144 - Texas is the only state that permits residents to cast absentee ballots from space.

Had a great weekend but now it is time to head back to reality.  I have lots of work to do this week before I can go back out to the island this weekend.  Yesterday was the drag tag sale.  All of the money goes toward the court's float in the Heritage of Pride Parade (Gay Parade) down 5th Avenue later this month.  Had a great time at the drag tag sale.  Worked security again and took lots of pictures.  Have to clear some space here before I can put more pictures up since I am running at 98%.  Did a lot of stuff with the Fire department this weekend too.  Got a board of director's meeting in the city Thursday night.  So can not head for the island until Friday morning.  But right now, it's off to work we go.

Man, it is sure warm out.  And my air conditioner here in the front room froze up. The compressor locked up yesterday.  Good thing I have my small one in the bedroom.  I have a big hole in my living room wall where the air conditioner used to be.  They will replace on Friday but in the meantime, I am really getting annoyed at this heat wave we are having.  I leave for the island tomorrow after work.  Had a good evening last night.  The local democratic party that I support won our primary.  Both candidates that I support won.  So it's off to the races against the Republican's in this town for the November election for council.

Just had a power hit here.  Fun storm out.

Just remembered that I had typed something over the weekend and had not uploaded it yet.  Have been working on some things here at the apartment.  Did laundry and got caught up on some email.  Just watching some TV and folding clothes before hitting the sack.  Nice lightning storm outside.  It was really hot and muggy today and thunderstorms tonight.

Caught the 7:35pm boat out last night.  Had a nice evening out here on the island.  Oh, anyone is welcome to snail mail me out here on the island.  Love to get mail out here since most of it comes to my winter address in NJ.  My address here is: P.O. Box 4155, Cherry Grove, NY 11782.  Right now I am waiting for a co-worker to make his way out.  He will be on the 5:30pm boat from Sayville.  Last night I did a night time drill with one of my fellow firefighters.  She had not driven much at night and wanted to get more comfortable driving at night.  So last weekend the chief approved it and we went out and drove the grove. Hmmm, that rhymes.  Today I went down to my normal breakfast at Floyd's and then headed over to the fire department.  We had a noon drill where we did a hose house maintenance.  Then I took our 4 wheel drive vehicle known as 5-26-7 to the Pines with two other firefighter friends.  I am driving over there tomorrow and wanted to make sure I knew the route and any problems that I might get in.  Had a spot of trouble but it all worked out.  Really glad I decided to ask the chief for permission to do this.  It was very helpful to see what was going on when it was light out.  Anyway, I need to pack this all up and get ready for Kevin.  I should clean just a bit too.  Have a few of my things over on Jeffrey's bed.  Jeffrey will not be out until Saturday night, so Kevin is going to come out for his first visit.  It's a bit cold, but I'm sure he will still have fun.  It is so different than the mainland stuff.
