Update for June 2006

Sunday, June 18, 2006 8:00pm EDT - Fire Island

Just getting read to leave the island but wanted to provide an update.  Had a very interesting day.  We had a drag tag sale on the deck of the Ice Palace here from noon to 3pm.  What a bunch of work that was.  But it was fun and had a great time.  Here is the obituary for my cousin mentioned in the previous posting.  Got to finish getting ready to leave.  I have a 8:55pm boat to catch.

KELLY PEYTON WARNER (October 13, 1959 - June 15, 2006)

Kelly Peyton Warner, beloved wife of Kevin Warner, died June 15, 2006, at age 46.  Kelly was born in Hood River, Oregon, but moved to Portland at age three.  She joined the David Douglas Swim Team when she was five and had a successful career while swimming on the high school team and at the University of Oregon which she attended on a swimming scholarship.  She was named to the All- American High School team six times and twice to the big All-American Team.  She was awarded the Hayward Scholarship in 1977.

On July 10, 1984, Kelly married Kevin Warner.  They reside in Sisters, Oregon, where Kelly worked for the Redmond Parr Lumber as a receptionist.

She had a passion for travel and loved to plan trips.  Her other passion was her love for her animals.  Her dogs, Chuck and Dave, and her cat, Hannah, were much loved members of her family.

Kelly is survived by her husband, Kevin; two stepsons, Jason and Blane; her parents, Gene and Barbara Peyton; her sister Debra (Jim) Connor; and aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Olympic Gold medalist, Kim Peyton McDonald.

She will be sorely missed by Kevin's large family.  His mother, Kathleen, and his siblings Kathryn, Dawn, Shannon, Susan, Shawn, Brian, Lisa, Lori and Kristi who all loved her dearly.

The funeral will be held at 1:00 Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at the Sisters Community Church at 15220 McKenzie Highway in Sisters, Oregon.

Friday, June 16, 2006 9:00am EDT - Fire Island

So much has been going on and I have just been to busy.  Right now I am on Fire Island on a 3 hour conference call for work.  With no speaker phone, this is really a drag.  But it is good information.  It is our first all staff meeting with the new IT Director at work.  Now to some sad news, my cousin Kelly passed away last evening.  She was 46 and the youngest of my 3 cousins and the second to pass away.  Kim passed away in 1986 from a brain tumor.  Shown below in this picture from the early 80's is Kelly, Debbie and Kim.

While I have never been close with any of my cousins, I do extend my condolences to my Aunt and Uncle.  As to what has been going on around here.  On a lighter note, Jeffrey has been off being the new Empress of New York so has not been on the island much this summer.  He was in Reno last weekend and busy with Pride events these next two weekends.  Things have been rather wet out here since Memorial Day.  This weekend is supposed to be warm and dry.  Saturday and Sunday are both now supposed to be in the 90's.  The Fire Department has an open house this weekend.  Hopefully I will remember to get some pictures of ME so that I can share them with you.  Being mostly behind the camera, I sometimes forget to get a picture of me to share.  Oh, I am also now the Dock Master here in Cherry Grove.  There are 4 of us and we split up the duties of monitoring the dock here.  Helping with the off loading of the ferry and making sure the contractors pick up their supplies and material being delivered so that they are off of the dock and out of people's way by the weekend.  I am only working about 10-12 hours over a 3 day weekend but more on holidays because the boats are full.  So that has been interesting.  Also, I have submitted my name for consideration as 4th Assistant Chief of the Fire Department next year.  Nominations are this summer for next year already.  So I will keep you informed of how that progresses.  I am also considering running for Emperor of New York again.  Something I need to finish up and submit by the end of the month.  I am also thinking about another running again as Secretary or the Minister of Protocol also for the court.  I have also just been elected the Vice Municipal Chair of the Hasbrouck Heights Democratic Committee.  So I have been busy with a plethora of volunteer activities.

Took a nap this evening and now just working away getting things ready.  I am MCing a show this evening at The Web in New York City.  It is the Lords and Ladies Show which features our newer members to the Imperial Court family.  This will be my first event MCing here in NY.  Have done it before in Portland so looking forward to it.  I think I have all of the key items covered.  Should be a fun time.  Then on Friday morning (early) I am headed out to the island for the weekend.

Oh, we got a new cat.  However, he is not working out well with Tiffany nor Edward or I.  Very hyper and everything.  We are thinking about taking him back early next week.  The adoption place here has a 2 week policy where if things are not working out, you can bring the cat back.  Memorial Day weekend was great out on the island.  It was foggy on Friday but the rest of the weekend was great.  It is supposed to rain here Thursday and Friday but be fair on Saturday and great on Sunday.  Oh well.
