Update for August 2006

Wednesday, August 30, 2006 11:50pm EDT

Have been rather busy.  Went to the gym this evening and had a nice workout.  Then got home and finished processing the minutes and stuff that had to be emailed out to the ICNY membership.  Now I need to print it at work tomorrow and mail out the same stuff to people who do not have email.  Only about 25 of those now compared to a membership of 179.  Headed off to the island tomorrow for the Labor Day weekend.

Sunday, August 27, 2006 11:00am EDT
Worked over in the Community House late last night on the show that opens next week.  We have a rehearsal today at noon so I am going to make some lunch and then head over there.  Thought I would put together a quick update.  We are leaving later today so will most likely not plug the computer in again after this.  My mom called the other day.  She lost her oldest dog Libby this week.  Libby had been with the family a long, long time and will be very much missed.  She is survived by her sisters "Zoey" and "Holly".   Have been keeping busy but also getting caught up on sleep.  Labor Day is next weekend and we have 4 performances.  Two on Saturday night and 2 on Sunday night.

Monday, August 21, 2006 5:00pm EDT

My mom emailed me and reminded me that I had not done and update.  Forgot to upload this after I wrote it.  Must have been really tired this morning.

Monday, August 21, 2006 7:00am EDT

Had a nice time out on the island this weekend.  Last night was the annual Billie Ann's Royal Revue at the Ice Palace.  I was in the show as a candidate for Emperor.  The show got out at 11:10pm and the last boat is normally 11:30.  Good thing I had made arrangements for an additional boat at 12:30am because there was no way I would have made the 11:30.  I had done some advertising around town that there was going to be an extra boat last night.  Turned out that 19 people took the boat.  A nice group on one of the older wooden boats.  The show was nice but very hot and sticky due to the high humidity.  Now I am off to work and a very busy week.  Tuesday is the Meet the Candidates dinner, I also pick Edward up at the airport on Tuesday night.  Thursday I am working from our Syosset, NY location so that I will have no trouble attending a Thursday night fire drill at Yaphank with the fire department.  So it will be very busy.

Saturday, August 12, 2006 7:30am EDT
Finally made it out here to Fire Island.  Has been a rough week back in Jersey after San Diego.  Mostly just busy and getting caught up on things.  Thursday night I was all packed and ready to walk out the door to the island.  A major storm hit with sheets of rain.  So I decided not to drive in that and come out early Friday morning.  A few hours later, the phone rings.  There were problems with the printers and systems in Automated Chemistry.  So I worked on that for a few hours and then went into work to try and find a resolution.  Got out of work at 3am and then headed back in at 8am to work on it some more.  It was mostly a major annoyance for them.  But we finally got it resolved and I got out of the lab at 3pm.  By that time, I figured I might as well wait for Edward.  So we both drove out to the island after a short nap so that the majority of the traffic could go by.  And it did too.  We left the house at 7:30pm and was on the 9:30pm boat out of Sayville.  That is very normal traveling time.  Only a patch at the George Washington Bridge and a backup at the Throgs Neck tolls but it was rather smooth after that. Anyway, made it out here and several people have missed me since I was in San Diego last weekend.  And then two weekends before that I was at the Bergen County Fire Academy so in the last 4 weeks I have only been here twice.

Things are going well with my campaign for Emperor.  Have talked on the phone with some people and they are positive.  So I'll keep my fingers crossed.  We have the usual "Meet The Candidates" dinner on Tuesday, August 22nd so that should be interesting.  Think I will head back to bed for a bit.  Was going to tag along on a driving drill at 9 this morning but think bed time would be more beneficial.  It's a bit nippy here.  Low 60's right now.  Had to put on an extra blanket last night.  Just a cold front from Canada I think.

Monday, August 7, 2006 2:30am EDT

Made it home just fine.  Got unpacked and now wanted to upload all of these updates before hitting bed.  Just winding down from the trip.  Cats are all happy that I am home.

Sunday, August 6, 2006 8:00pm MDT (Continental Flight 427 at 37,000' SAN to EWR)

Not sure exactly where we are.  It's about two hours into the flight.  The movie just finished and a kid is screaming in the back room.  I'm in my normal emergency exit which has more leg room.  The movie was She Is  A Man or something like that.  A cute teen movie about a girl who decides to be a boy so that she could play soccer.  She had a twin brother so that made it interesting.  It's a bit bumpy up here.  Not to bad, just going over some clouds and a storm front.  Looking out the window right now, I see the moon and what looks like the end of the storm front below us.  The clouds are starting to thin and I can see the ground again.  The flight took off on time so that was very nice compared to the trip out.  Have a lot of things to do this week.  Wednesday is the board meeting for the court and Thursday I am headed back out to the island for the weekend. Need to get minutes typed and my campaign packets into the mail for those members of the court that were not at the general membership meeting last week.  Danny is going to provide me with a list of who was not present.  Was working on my web site while waiting for the plane.  Totally killed off on battery.  It was a good thing that I brought my spare battery for this trip.  Anyway, looking forward to getting back. Had a fun time but this coronation was a strange one.  Enjoyed being here and supporting them and glad that we could pledge some very much needed money to the Tijuana AIDS Foundation.

Sunday, August 6, 2006 3:00pm PDT (San Diego, CA)

Just got to the airport and all checked in for my flight out at 4:40pm today.  Security was a snap.  Found out that there are very few flights right now so it is quiet here.  In another hour or two it will really pick up and be busy.  So I got here at the right time.  We had a nice Victory Brunch at one of the local bars.  The speeches were a bit long winded but we got out of there in good time.  It was a nice close to the weekend.  My friend Panzi dropped me off at the airport.  They do not fly out until Monday morning.  Just thought I would sit here and do some more updates and changes to the web site.

Sunday, August 6, 2006 12:30am PDT (San Diego, CA)

Had an interesting evening here at the coronation.  The place they had it was not air conditioned so it was like an oven in there.  Talked with lots of people I know and enjoyed it overall.  I know the new Emperor and have always gotten along well with him.  Afterwards we all went to a restaurant to eat.  We had 20 of us.  Good thing we had reservations.  It was great.  Got to talk with Suzanne (my friend from Portland) more.  She drove me back to the hotel after the coronation.  We were cracking up and having a good time.  Several people are headed out but I am off to bed.  Brunch in the morning and I need to pack later.

Saturday, August 5, 2006 9:45am PDT (San Diego, CA)

Just finished updating my 2006 archived blog entries.  Need to upload them all and then I am going to take a break.  Went to the little breakfast that they had here at the hotel.  Ran into some friends and talked.  Jeffrey headed out to some city away from here to look for dresses and just see the sights.  I'm waiting on Hospitality to open so that I can get our coronation tickets for tonight and talk to some more people there.

Saturday, August 5, 2006 7:30am PDT (San Diego, CA)

My phone went off with a text message alert from work and I can not seem to get back to sleep.  Maybe will take a nap later so decided to do some more work on my web page.  Think I might go for a swim later since the hotel here has a nice pool.  The coronation tonight is at 5pm and will be done early.  So several of us are headed back into Tijuana tonight to have a good time at one of the local bars there.

Saturday, August 5, 2006 1:20am PDT (San Diego, CA)

Had a good evening.  Finally found (or I should say, took the time to figure out) what was going on with my web pages.  They were taking a long time to load.  There was some old script code that needed to be cleared from the pages.  This script code is no longer supported on this server.  That is what I get for having such an old original web site.  Old code here and there.  So that is all updated and they load much faster now.  Have done some revamping here and there too.  Here are a few pictures from Tijuana, Mexico that I took.

Crossing into Downtown Tijuana.

I was talking with Jeffrey so just finished the update that I was working on.  I had brought back McDonalds to the room.  So we talked and ate while we looked at the Tijuana pictures that I had taken earlier today.  After this I am headed off to bed.

Friday, August 4, 2006 10:00pm PDT (San Diego, CA)

Having a good time in San Diego.  When I got here I had 5 voice messages on my phone.  Jeffrey was with some friends from San Diego and they were able to swing by the airport and pick me up instead of me taking a shuttle to the hotel.  Dropped my stuff off at the hotel and headed out to the wet underwear party that our dear friend Coco LaChine was hosting.  It's a fun little bar.  Saw several people that I know and had a good time.  Then back to the hotel to relax and get some much needed sleep since I was still on east coast time.  Got up this morning and headed into Tijuana. I need to download my pictures from there and will post in a bit.  Had a great time.  I was crowned Prince of Tijuana along with our candidate for Empress 'B' who was Princess of Tijuana.  Gefil (our NY Empress) and Fantasia (our NY Emperor) were both the Princess and Prince of Tijuana last year and this year they were named the Empress and Emperor of Tijuana.  This is a fun 'camp' title that is totally a buy type of thing.  All of the money goes toward the Tijuana AIDS Project which gets no funding at all from their government.  And conditions are very poor there.  So each vote is $1.  This year we raised over $13,000 for them.  While we were there, I bought a few T-Shirts for Edward and one for me too.  Also some sunscreen and a Cuban cigar for my Chief out on Fire Island.  Found out that it is legal to buy one (1) for personal use and bring it across the boarder.  More than one is a no-no.  We had a good time and then came back to the boarder.  The boarder crossing this year was much better than last year.  It only took us about 1/2 hour after we got into line for crossing.  The inspector ran my passport and asked a few questions and away I went.  Got back to the hotel and slept for a bit before we got dressed and headed out to the "out of town" show here.  A traditional fun drag show the Friday night before a coronation.  Lots of people from (you guessed it) out of town, that I was able to talk with.

Thursday, August 3, 2006 8:30pm CDT (CO1426)

Well we finally made it off of the ground.  It was 100 degrees when I got to the airport but it was raining when we finally left. Sounds like the heat wave finally broke since they said the weather was coming in.  The steward on this flight was telling me that it was raining in Montreal the other day when he was there.  He just flew in from there and is now is on his way to San Diego and then back to Newark for several days at home.  The movie was ok.  Dr. Doolittle 3 and now I am just not in the mood to watch another movie.  Failure to Launch is on.  They played Ice Age 3 while we were on the ground waiting to take off.  We are some 2 hours late.  Headed to San Diego for their annual coronation ball.  On Friday we are going down to Tijuana.  We will have some time to shop and just take in the sights.

Thursday, August 3, 2006 6:50pm EDT

Sitting on board CO1426 to San Diego.  We are on the tarmac in Newark still.  Were supposed to leave at 5:30pm but the storms between here and there have messed up the air traffic.  So we are on the plane just sitting.  Worked form home today and got many little things done.   My speech last night went rather well.  Good have hit a few points a bit harder but overall it was good.  Several people have commented on it and I got a few emails already.  Oh well.  Hopefully we will be able to take off soon.

Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:20am EDT

Headed to San Diego this weekend.  Leaving here on Thursday afternoon.  Have a big speech to give tonight to kick off my campaign for Emperor at the general membership meeting.  The heat wave has been brutal.  Do not have much energy to do much of anything except stay inside with the AC on.  Today's forecast is for 105.  The heat would not be so bad if it was not for the humidity.  Anyway, have to get dressed and ready to leave for work.  Still need to work on my web site one of these days.  All of the links need to be redone.

Update for August/September 2006

Wednesday, September 13, 2006 12:10am EDT

Busy, busy.  Went to the gym today and had a nice work out.  Have been trying to start figuring out things.  Got caught up on school yesterday.  Spent the entire evening at Starbucks.  It was nice to see friends and talk as well as spend several hours of just working on my school work.  I have a board meeting today (Wednesday).  This is the first meeting of the new board after elections.  Always interesting since there are new people coming on the board and some who have left.  The dynamics are always a bit interesting at first.  Thursday I will be working from home and Edward leaves for Toronto as well for a long weekend.

Thursday, September 7, 2006 01:00am EDT

Wow.  The election was nerve racking but I won and now am not sure what I got myself into.  giggle.  Not sure when it is going to hit me.  Need to get some sleep.  Have lots of planning to do for the coronation at the Marriott Marquis on Saturday, March 31, 2007.  You will be hearing lots more about it soon.  So mark your calendars.  I know it is going to be a hoot.  Crown Prince Craig Hollywood off to sleep.

Monday, September 4, 2006 4:30pm EDT LABOR DAY

It has been a busy yet relaxing labor day weekend here on the island.  The STORM that we had on Friday and Saturday blew things around but no real damage.  Just wind swept a bit.  Winds were 54 at the Ferry terminal in Sayville.  The boats were skipping every other one due to the storm.  I heard the boat was really getting banged around in the Pines harbor.  We have a very open dock so it was tricky for the captain but they did a great job.  The shows this weekend went well.  Nice house on Sunday with lots of people laughing and rolling in the isles.  A good time was had a Panzi & Philomena Meet Frankenstein presented by the Arts Project of Cherry Grove (www.artsprojectofcherrygrove.org).  Got some rest, did some fire department stuff and getting ready to pick up and head out of here later today.  Back to the real world as we say it.  Elections are on Wednesday and I still have to put together the ballots and get myself all ready for that.
