Update for September 2006

Wednesday, September 27, 2006 7:40pm EDT

Over at Starbucks diving into some school work so that I will not be to far behind.  I will head home in about an hour or two and relax.  It has been a busy last few days.  Busy at work, busy planning coronation stuff and just busy with school.  I have an individual assignment that I have to get started.  It is due on Monday so I have time but I want to make sure I get it done.  I also have some team assignments that I need to pay attention to.  I only have a week break before the next class starts up.

Tough Drag was Tuesday.  We were at the Web in mid-town and everyone had a great time.  We raised about $1,000 for the Tijuana Aids Project.  I won the "What Were You Thinking Award".

I had a nice weekend.  Finished closing up the Fire Island house and got myself off of the island on the noon boat.  Made it back and had plenty of unpacking to do. Edward played his computer game while I watched Doctor Who. Then headed over to Starbucks and did some school work.  Edward called several hours later and I packed up and we went to dinner at a Qdobo and then I dropped him off at a friends and I am now back at home finishing up my school work.  I have an event tomorrow in The City so will not be able to do much school work on Monday.  So need to get this done and turned in tonight.  I am building a database, good thing since this is a database class.  Going to be a long week.  This is the first week since May that I have worked 5 days.

Got the fence down today and everything put away.  Jeffrey has an event in Connecticut on Sunday so he left this evening and headed back to the city.  I will finish closing up on Sunday and head back home around noon.  Had two fire alarms while I was here so far.  One was a pull box that probably some kid pulled.  The other was a surfer that was having problems getting back to shore.  Added a bit of excitement around here.  Tonight is the third annual Candy Land part at the Ice Palace.  Everyone seems to be there and we all had a nice time.  Got a few minutes to talk with some friends and just chat.  Also got a lot of school work done this weekend too.

The dinner was very nice.  The boat with the Sayville Firefighters was a little late, but everything got taken care of and we were off for the Snapper Inn over in Oakdale.  This restaurant is on the bay, so the boat pulls right up to the marina there and we all get off the boat and right into the pavilion where the dinner is.  They started off with some nice finger food.  Some awards were presented, the local assembly woman was there as well.  Then dinner and dancing.  Then we all piled back onto the boat and headed back to Cherry Grove.  The trip was about 25 minutes from their dock to our dock.  So not bad at all.  The ferry ride across the bay is 20 minutes.  Think I will get some more sleep.  In the morning I am meeting someone at 9:30am and then off to the Community Association meeting and then off the island on the noon boat.  Taking Jeffrey back to the City since he has some work to do Sunday afternoon and I should get home so that I can concentrate on school work before picking Edward up at the airport tonight.  He is flying back from Toronto.

Just had a nice little nap and now I am getting ready for the dinner.  I need to be down at the fire house early since I am meeting the standby fire crew from Sayville and driving them back to the fire house.  They will be staying at our fire house and answering any fire calls while we are off to the dinner.  They are a "regular" engine crew from the Sayville Volunteer Fire Department which is where the ferry terminal is located.  So now to get ready.

Just finished watching the Food of Love which was a nice GLBT themed movie.  Now just working on some school work that I need to get finished up.  It's due on Monday and on Monday I have a event in the city.  So would like to get it mostly done today and tomorrow and then put some minor touches on it Monday before submitting.  Earlier, we had our semi-annual fire department meeting.  The meeting went very well.  I was outside before the meeting handing out a letter stating the reasons why I wanted to be the next 4th Assistant Chief of the department (click here to see the letter).  The actual election is in April so we will know then. Tonight is the annual department dinner.  It was raining here all of yesterday but I had a nice time.  Went to go see a play last night.  The Island Repertory Theatre Company had a small play Two Boys In A Bed On A Cold Winter's Night by James Edwin Parker staring Scott Cunningham and Paul Lekakis.  On Thursday night, Paul showed his short film Don't Tell, Don't Ask at the film festival.  It was great hearing him talk about his film.  He stared in it and directed it.  It was shot in his apartment in LA.  Very cute short film dealing with HIV/AIDS and reminding people that it is still here and a subject that should be discussed.  But today the weather has blown over and it is rather clear and sunny.  The beach people are happy.

Busy, busy.  Went to the gym today and had a nice work out.  Have been trying to start figuring out things.  Got caught up on school yesterday.  Spent the entire evening at Starbucks.  It was nice to see friends and talk as well as spend several hours of just working on my school work.  I have a board meeting today (Wednesday).  This is the first meeting of the new board after elections.  Always interesting since there are new people coming on the board and some who have left.  The dynamics are always a bit interesting at first.  Thursday I will be working from home and Edward leaves for Toronto as well for a long weekend.

Wow.  The election was nerve racking but I won and now am not sure what I got myself into.  giggle.  Not sure when it is going to hit me.  Need to get some sleep.  Have lots of planning to do for the coronation at the Marriott Marquis on Saturday, March 31, 2007.  You will be hearing lots more about it soon.  So mark your calendars.  I know it is going to be a hoot.  Crown Prince Craig Hollywood off to sleep.

Monday, September 4, 2006 4:30pm EDT LABOR DAY

It has been a busy yet relaxing labor day weekend here on the island.  The STORM that we had on Friday and Saturday blew things around but no real damage.  Just wind swept a bit.  Winds were 54 at the Ferry terminal in Sayville.  The boats were skipping every other one due to the storm.  I heard the boat was really getting banged around in the Pines harbor.  We have a very open dock so it was tricky for the captain but they did a great job.  The shows this weekend went well.  Nice house on Sunday with lots of people laughing and rolling in the isles.  A good time was had a Panzi & Philomena Meet Frankenstein presented by the Arts Project of Cherry Grove (www.artsprojectofcherrygrove.org).  Got some rest, did some fire department stuff and getting ready to pick up and head out of here later today.  Back to the real world as we say it.  Elections are on Wednesday and I still have to put together the ballots and get myself all ready for that.
