Update for March 2007

Friday, March 30, 2007 1:30am EDT (Hotel Edison, Times Square, New York)

What an interesting day it has been.  Getting everything taken care of and moved into the hotel.  Then UPS had the wrong address for my costumes being shipped from New Hampshire.  So more drama.  I have to go to UPS at noon down on Houston street (oh, for you non-New Yorkers it's pronounced HOUSE-TON here.  Not like the town in Texas).  Then on my way back into town the Lincoln Tunnel was still only 2 lanes in and it took us about an hour to get through and into the city.  We arrived via Cab at my Bachelor party around 8pm.  It was a small, fun crowd and everyone seemed to have a good time.  Several people showed up after the show, so I was pleased that I stayed around.  My friends Ben & Jerry from Fire Island came by.  The Lovely Suzanne from Portland and Dawna Creation too stopped in.  We had people from Fresno, CA; Toronto Canada, Iowa and Seattle that I can recall.  Another friend Ricky showed up after he finished working on the Jersey Boys show on Broadway.  He is a dresser for the show.  So we sat and talked for a nice spell.  The show really served it's purpose.  To help relax me and just kick back and have a little fun.  To shake off the stress that has been building up to this weekend.  Either way, we are going to have a great weekend.  Now if I can only get the wireless in this hotel to work.  Oh well, might just go to Starbucks in the morning and post this or just wait until I am settle tomorrow afternoon into my Suite at the Marriott Marquis.

We had a grand time at Mary Poppins last night.  The whole show was great, even from the upper balcony.  It gave us a great view of everything going on.  We loved it.  Especially when Mary flies away OVER the audience and out of sight into the cat walks.  The part where Bert walks up the side of the theatre and across the ceiling was really cool too.  We were dumbstruck during SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS since we are doing a part of that in our number Saturday and what they did is so over the top of what we are doing.  But they are professionals and had 3 months of rehearsals where we are volunteers and will have had 7 rehearsals.  So a bit of a difference.  We also loved the chimney sweeps number which had lots of tap in it.  My niece would have loved the number.  We drove over early and found a great parking spot along the street between 10th and 11th Avenue on 44th Street.  Then walked a few blocks and had dinner at a nice place.  Then over to 42nd Street and the show.  We were all flying higher than Michael's kite when we got out of there.  We never stopped talking about the show until we were almost home.  Today I am off working on last minute details and packing.  Haircut and errands in general.  Then tomorrow I head into the city in the morning to meet up with Jeffrey for some last minute costume items.

Wow, so little time now before coronation.  Have been running errands.  Picked up the banners for my walk.  Now have to figured out how to get them tied on to the poles that I have.  Went to the gym with Kevin and worked out for a bit.  That felt good, then went and did a little shopping for items we need in the house.  Edward is staying in the city this weekend with a friend.  Lots to do.  Also shipped out a package full of toiletries for the Tijuana Aids Project that had been collecting in the apartment for several months.  The little ones that you get free at hotels.  We collect them and then ship them all to San Diego where they take them over the border for the Aids Project there.  Glad to get that out of here.  Mom just sent me a package with a nice surprise.  Some $$$ to apply toward my coronation bills but also my old x'mas stocking.  Since she just moved, she must have found it and wanted me to have it.  I have several boxes of x'mas stuff just going to the storage unit in another part of the complex.  So that was perfect timing.  Got more work around the apartment to get done.  Have music to listen too and need to do some rehearsing for the opening number.  SUPER-CALIF-RAGIL-ISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS.  What a number it is going to be.  Wow.

Happy Birthday to my sister today.  Hope everything is just peachy today for her.  I actually managed to get her gift overnighted out to her yesterday.  I was so proud of myself for actually getting it done.  I have been so busy that I have not even had time to think much about normal things for the past few weeks.  But we are getting down to the wire and everything seems to be coming together nicely.  Mama, known as Empress I Jose the Widow Norton is the founder of the International Court System, will be unable to attend our coronation ball this year for medical reasons.  I am sure she is really sad that she can not attend.  She always looks forward to the New York coronation.  But our newly crowned Queen Mother of the Americas, Nichole will be present.  So many details right now that I am pulling together.  The opening number is really starting to gel.  We just had our 3rd rehearsal last night and we finished blocking the entire number now.  The next several rehearsals will just be doing it over and over and over.  The entire number is about 18 minutes long and features tunes from the new musical Mary Poppins that is currently on Broadway.  Edward, Kevin and I are going to see the Broadway play on Tuesday next week.

Just have been very busy with all of the prep work that is needed before the ball.  We start rehearsals tomorrow on the opening number.  So I will be in the city from 6pm until 10pm at rehearsal.  Again, twice next week as well.  Got a lot of moves to learn.  Our choreographer is one of the best that I have seen.  She really knows her stuff and makes it look so easy.  We get the moves down and it is just great.  Still have a few words to memorize.  So will be busy with that.

Had a board meeting at St. Vincent's tonight.  When we got out, the whole place was like a war zone.  Cops everywhere, camera crews and the works.  Our meeting is very close to the ER and they were just bringing in one of the cops that was shot over in the village.  Four total dead from that guy who was on a rampage over on Bleeker street.  Never dull around here.

Sunday, March 11, 2007 2:15pm EDT (DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME)

Well, all except for me mummy in Arizona.  Arizona is one of those funny states that do not switch to daylight savings time.  So they are in a different time zone now than they were yesterday.  During the winter they are 2 hours off of me in Mountain time but now they are in Pacific time which is 3 hours off.  I think I got that right.  Anyway, I just got back from brunch with Jeffrey in the city.  We were doing a presentation with our current Emperor Fantasia and several other people to Silvia's Place.  A church run shelter for street kids in New York City.  We presented them a check for $20,700 from a benefit we did in January.  Then went down to Jeffrey's work area where we had brunch.  Now I am home for a little rest before getting ready for the Prince and Princess Show tonight at Splash Bar NYC.  We have a nice little show scheduled and then we are out of there.  This show traditionally kicks off the Coronation events.  It's count down until the finish line.  Only 19 days left now.  Man do I have a lot of work to do between now and then.

Saturday, March 10, 2007 10:15am EST

It has been a very busy week.  Trying to still get my outfit from the person making it.  Just lots of details to work through right now.  Trying to finish up with all of the people who are going to the coronation ball at my tables.  I am coordinating 8 tables this year.  Working on all kinds of things.  Have lots to do today.

Saturday, March 3, 2007 8:15am EST

What a busy week it has been.  The sky opened up and dumped on us yesterday.  Road closures all over the place due to flooding.  We got 3" in 12 hours or something like that.  Yesterday was also that last day at work for two guys in our department.  So several of us headed over to a local watering hole and toasted them a fond farewell.  One of them used to work for me at the help desk.  So it was a sad yet happy farewell.  Both are going to good jobs that they really could not pass up the opportunity to take these new jobs.  Then Kevin and I headed into the city at 10pm to visit Jeffrey at the Theatre.  He was working on an outfit for the opening number.  We talked with him and kept him company.  As always he was helpful in just talking through a few things that I needed to get sorted out in my head.  Less than 30 days now to the big event and I still have lots to do.  Right now I am back to bed though.  Oh, and on Thursday night I had an overnight sleep study at the hospital to recalibrate my machine.  Yes, the evening the sky opened up.  I got out of the hospital to puddles everywhere and a fight to get home through the flooding.  An hour later when we headed to work, some of the roads I had just traveled on where then closed due to flooding.  So it has been a very busy week.
