Update for February 2009

Wow, hard to believe that I have put this off for so long.  Things have been very busy but I had no idea how bad this had lapsed.  Back from the gym where I spent sometime in the steam room and the Jacuzzi.  Have been working on minutes from various meetings and generally resting up for the week.  Had a rather long week at work. Nothing out of the ordinary.  My director was here from Baltimore and we had an all day meeting on Thursday about our major activity that we will be working on over the year.  The new Application Support Manager was announced.  Someone who I will be able to work with just fine.  Just a long day.  On Wednesday, several of us went out to dinner.  I had gotten up early to take Edward to the airport, so that was another really long day.  So, just tired.  Friday night I went over to my friend Kevin's place and watch the 1st and 2nd part of the John Adams HBO series.  We both enjoyed it and look forward to watching the remaining parts.  Let's see, what else has been going on.  The apartment is a mess.  Edward is in the process of clearing out his room.  He leaves March 18th for Washington State.  Back to live with his parents and finish off two classes that he needs at Clark Community College for his Associates degree.  His dad is paying for it, so it's a good deal for him and that way he will always have those credits and that degree.  It's a marketing associates degree of some kind.  Not sure what will happen with him long term.  He is in Minnesota right now, interviewing for a summer intern job with a health care company.  That would be good for him should he get the job.  Three months, room & board included, or something like that.  Anyway, things will be different around here.  Tiffany continues to hold her own.  She has a vet appointment this week, but does not like the meds I have to give her.  Then again, who does like meds.  She needs a transdermal fluid thing but it is difficult for me to give it to her.  Have to take her up to the vet to get it done but that costs money.  Then again, everything costs money.

In Remembrance of

Rev. Dr. Charles E. Whipple

(September 22, 1913 - February 20, 2009)

Cherry Grove Fire Department Chaplin

Rest eternal grant unto them

O Lord: and let light perpetual shine upon them.

With thy Saints for everymore: for thou art gracious.

Attended a viewing in full firefighter uniform for Rev. Dr. Whipple at The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, 145 West Forty-sixth Street, just off Times Square in New York City.  A beautiful church founded in 1868 as a Episcopal Church in Longacre Square (now known as Times Square).  Charles was our Fire Department Chaplin in Cherry Grove for many years. He, and his life partner Willie lived just a two blocks from Jeffrey and I out in Cherry Grove.  It was good to honor his years of service with the Fire Department by being there in uniform.
