Update for November 2009

Got upgraded to XP at work on Friday so today was my first day with the new computer. Had to reset a bunch of my settings and reload loads of small software to get it to work right. Sure I will be working out the kinks for days but it went rather well. Have had a slight cold so have been sleeping a bunch with Smokey curled up with me. He is a character. Loves to run around and then crash with me either in the chair as I watch TV or movies or when I head to bed. The fun thing is to run from the bedroom to the front room because I walk out there. Then I walk back to the bedroom so he runs there. Then I have to walk back to the ... you get the idea. Last night I went to NEW MOON with my friend Warren. We enjoyed the movie. It was like 7pm on Sunday, so the crowd was not to bad. Most of the "kids" were getting ready for school on Monday. Nice crowd in the theatre but not over crowded. Loved the movie. We both liked different parts but it was fun to be a critic and talk about it on the way home. Smokey just knocked a pen of mine off the end table and is now playing with it on the floor. What a fun kitty he is.

Watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV and was able to download some pictures from today's line up area. After the start the parade, we are not allowed to have any cameras out, or cellular phones, or... Lot's of no no's that we have to follow. But it was fun. Top row shows Buzz Light year and Horton still under their nets. They were inflated on Wednesday night. Did you know that Macy's is the second largest consumer of Helium in the United States? The bottom row is myself standing next to our R. H. Macy Baseball. We had 8 handlers and our Flight Management Pilot. In the lower right is a good shot of Buzz still under his net. Found a shot of our baseball on the NBC coverage. When they are showing Buzz Light year, you see our baseball behind Buzz. Then you see the Mounted Police Horse unit. WE ARE NEXT, but they went to the Core Apple float with a singer that performed from 30 Rock. So you only see our balloon in the shot of Buzz looking east on 34th street. Not bad for being the smallest balloon in the entire parade. lol
Thursday, November 26, 2009 9:45pm EST ** Happy Thanksgiving **
Had a nice time at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I saw a shot of our balloon on the CBS coverage but they raced us right through the intersection / star of Macy's for the performing artist that was right behind us. My foot is killing me but I had a good time. It was certainly an experience. Pictures coming soon, once I upload them to my computer. Working tomorrow so headed back to bed shortly. Smokey is running up and down the apartment having fun. He was sleeping with me earlier on my bed. I got up at 3:30am this morning to meet my friends at 5am at the Tick Tock Diner at the New Yorker Hotel on 34th and 9th Avenue. We ate and then walked upstairs to the 4th floor where our costumes were. Then onto the bus for the ride uptown to find our balloon.

In Boston watching TV. Have a rehearsal tomorrow at noon so will get some sleep after this. Watching Criminal Minds, a series on TV that has been on for 5 seasons now. Very interesting stuff. Looks like a Law & Order wannabe but a good show. It focuses on FBI behavioral profilers. Had a nice drive up from Jersey earlier today. Left around 10am and got in about 3:30pm after a stop for lunch. Up here for a coronation tonight at 6pm.

Nice Nor'easter kicking up around her. Waves 8 to 12 feet they are saying. Lots of damage expected out on the island. I will try to go out there on Sunday to do some fire house work but also to check for any damage.

I have a new kitty, his name is Smokey. When I am in the chair, he likes to sleep in my arm while I watch TV. Or he likes to play. He loves being fed and has lost all shyness about asking for more, and more and more. He is only 7 months old and is already fixed. He came from a no kill shelter adoption program START II at the Pet Smart that I go to.
I also had a great time at the Macy's Balloon Fest were they test their new balloon's that will be flying this Thanksgiving. I have been assigned to the Baseball. But I was able to fly the Pillsbury Dough Boy which was a lot of fun. Look for me in the parade this year, live on NBC. They also had Spiderman, Mickey Mouse and a new Ronald McDonald that they were testing. Loads of fun. Yes, that is me next to Spidey before his net was taken off.
