Update for March 2012
Saturday, March 31, 2012 3:30pm EDT
I am in NYC right now staying at the Hotel Edison. Same hotel my sister and I stayed in on a high school trip here in 1979. They have remodeled once or twice since then. LOL. The Imperial Court of New York's Night of a Thousand Gowns is going on next door at the Marriott Marquis. The coronation benefit this year if for PFLAG New York City and New Alternatives (A youth GLBT organization). Cocktails are at 6:30pm but I have to be over in the VIP ballroom at 5:30pm. Think I will blog a big and then shower and slowly get ready. I have been helping Jeffrey out with protocol which is very interesting to say the least. A few minor hiccups here and there but nothing earth shattering. Ok, off I go. Headed home early tomorrow (Sunday) to relax and enjoy the Sunday before work and a HOP board meeting on Monday. Never dull for the wicked I guess.

Working on the computer a bit but generally relaxing. Watched a fun movie WIN WIN the other day then watched the 5th Quarter yesterday. Netflix is great. This weekend I am on call, so have been lugging my computer when I leave the house. So no HUNGER GAMES for me this weekend. If I go, then I know I will be called in the middle of the movie and will have to step out in the middle of it and then be really ticked off that I missed part of the story line. Right now, Smokey (my cat) got me up to feed her. Have been getting caught up on some computer work. Working with Jeffrey on the ball a bit. Only one piece of it which is the protocol section. Finished all of the out of town protocol that I have to date from Jeffrey. Other than that, still finalizing some other people and then will start laying names and spots down. Later, I think I will lay back down for a bit now that Smokey is fed and happy.

Actually went to the gym this morning. Had a nice cardio bike ride followed by a little weights and then about 10 minutes in the steam room and about 5 in the spa. My friend Matt goes to the same gym now and we have made a pact to go at least 3 times a week. Busy at work. Seems to be a higher than normal demand for IT services. Lots of things going on and changes in the air. That is what I love about IT. Always changing. The ball in right around the corner. If interested in details, check out the web site at ICNY.ORG and see who is scheduled to perform this year. Have a FILESC (Fire Island Law Enforcement Security Council) meeting on Fire Island on Thursday. So will be out there for that. Supposed to be 80 degrees that day. NICE !!! This has been the second warmest winter on record and that is saying a lot. When they have the daily records, the have been keeping track of weather records here for at least 150+ years. Really wild since Oregon was just a baby back then. So very different to me.

Good morning everyone. Hope everyone got their clocks changed. Well, that is except for my mom who lives in Arizona and those folks on Hawaii. Other than that, yeah we all need to spring forward. Was up to use the facilities and puddy wanted a bite so I just changed the clocks and then logged in to check emails. So really not in a talkative mode. We saw JOHN CARTER today and LOVED it. Night.

Just sitting here not doing much. Checking email via my blackberry. Thank the stars for that. My work laptop is not working right so the Field IT guys have it right now and are working on it. Tuesday, I had some problems and it would not connect to the network. They worked on it and it then worked. Last night I tried to get onto the network via VPN and it would not. Major bummer since I am on call nights. At about 11:30pm thought I was going to have to drive in to log a ticket. But finally woke up enough to call someone and get them to work on the issue then logged the call in the morning when I got to work. So my fingers are crossed right now that it will work and be fine shortly. He has been working on it all morning. Me without a laptop, go figure. On another front, still recovering from the weekend OSHA class. Class went very well. Had 50 firefighters from Fire Island in attendance. My largest class that I have ever taught. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and especially since we can check this off of our list of things that have to be completed each year. Lunch was good too. 6 hours of me teaching really drained me and I could not recover because Monday I had an executive board meeting in the city. Tonight I am in the city again for a court meeting. Have to buy my ticket for Night of A Thousand Gowns. Still working on my oranges from Arizona. Oh, and don't forget to jump your clocks forward a hour this weekend. Except for those Arizona people that is. :)

I am currently at the New York Theatre Workshop getting ready for my class today. Got the wireless display up and running and everything seems great. We are off and running. Or as they say back here, we are cooking with gas.

Tomorrow is my big training session in NYC that I am teaching. OSHA Sunday - just finished putting some final little fun touches on the presentation. All the photocopies are done and pretty much everything is set. Tomorrow will tell but I think the attendance is going to be around 50. That will be great and should make it fun for everyone that is there. The class is 6 hours long from 10am to 4pm but we should be done before that. Just depends upon how well we get through the material and how many questions there are. This is also my first time performing the Hazmat Refresher with hands on refresher training on the ERG (Emergency Response Guide). New hands on requirement. So that will be interesting to see how the exercises that I have devised work with the class. I tried to make them very Fire Island specific so will be good information for everyone either way. Ok, off to pack everything away so that I am ready. Haircut was today and uniform shirt already came back from the cleaners last week. Guess I am set. Next weekend it's the start of Daylight Saving Time (DST) again. Yeah, more light in the evenings. Well, except for those Arizona people who do not want to play with the rest of us. lol

Well we made it to Friday again. And I have a very full schedule for the weekend. Found out that we will have about 20 people from other fire departments on Fire Island at my class on Sunday. So it should be a very full class. Guess I should made a few more copies of the handouts today. Rain on Saturday but clear on Sunday. Lost my assistance because his mom is sick so will have to do it solo. But everything looks good. Oh, and my pain was just gas. Must have eaten something that did not agree with me. Really, maybe I have been eating to many oranges. lol - Mom sent me another case of oranges so I have been having my fruit quota for the day for sure. They are great. Anyway, got to get to work.
